Women, Water and Peace in the Middle East Conference

Co-hosted by MEF University & Strategic Foresight Group In co-operation with Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency The international conference on Women, Water and Peace in the Middle East, which will be convened in Istanbul on 18-19 March 2016 is co-hosted by MEF University, Istanbul and the Strategic Foresight Group (SFG), Mumbai with support from the Swedish International Development Agency, Stockholm.

The Conference is a part of the Blue Peace Process, which has been in progress since 2011 to encourage the use of water for peace and cooperation in the Middle East. The first High Level Forum on Blue Peace in the Middle East was convened at the MEF University on 19-20 September 2014. The High Level Forum had taken place at the time of the start of the first academic year of MEF University, which also happened to be the first such an international event organized on campus.

​This year’s conference will explore the role of women in this endeavor. The meeting in Istanbul on 18-19 March will bring together 60 thought leaders and women opinion makers from Iraq, Jordan Lebanon and Turkey as key participants, including former Ministers, Members of Parliament, government officials, academics and editors of newspapers. The conference is expected to result in concrete recommendations for promoting water cooperation in the Middle East and the role that women can play in this regard.
